AEST to EST Converter

Convert Australian Eastern Time (AEST/AEDT) to Eastern Time (EST/EDT). This page uses Sydney time and New York time, so it follows daylight saving automatically: pick any date below and the conversion uses the offsets in force on that day.

AEST to EST time difference

The converter above shows the difference for the date and time you choose. Over 2026, the gap works out like this:

  • EST is 14 hours behind AEST
Most of the year: Apr 5 to Oct 3.
  • EST is 16 hours behind AEST
Jan 1 to Mar 7, Nov 1 to Dec 31.
  • EST is 15 hours behind AEST
Mar 8 to Apr 4, Oct 4 to Oct 31.

The short periods exist because the two regions change their clocks on different dates, so for a few weeks one has moved and the other has not. Double-check any meeting booked in those weeks.

AEST to EST for a working day

Sydney time from 6 AM to 10 PM, converted. The two columns differ because daylight saving changes the gap between winter and summer. Bold times fall between 9 AM and 5 PM in EST.

About these time zones

AEST. This page uses Sydney: AEST (UTC+10) from April to October and AEDT (UTC+11) during the southern summer. Brisbane stays on AEST all year, so it can be an hour behind Sydney.

EST. Eastern Time is EST (UTC-5) in winter and EDT (UTC-4) from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. It covers New York, Toronto, Miami and most of the US East Coast.

Overlap. There is no hour that falls inside a 9 to 5 working day in both zones, so one side has to meet early or late. Early morning in one zone and early evening in the other is usually the least painful option.
